Back in another saddle...

Chris and I decided to challenged ourselves today with a ~35 mile bike ride...This wasn't just any ordinary bike ride however...our goal was to visit Portland Community College - Rock Creek (where Chris is a Mathematics teacher) and then cruise over to Nike World Headquarters (where I work as an Internal Auditor)...some people might say, "Why would you visit your work place on a Saturday?" Well, it was beautiful scenery, a good amount of mileage and we are hoping to bike commute together and needed to figure out a good route...so there! Our first challenge was riding up the mountain-like Burnside Street...I've driven the road many a time, but riding our bikes up it was heart thumping...we were cruisin' at an average speed of 7 mph up the hill...cars whizzing by us...our lungs burning like embers in a fire, our quadriceps being pounded with each pedal stroke like tenderizing a piece of meat (sorry Chris, I know you are a vegetarian, but this was the best analogy). Once we made it to the top we were greeted with a few more roller coaster hills and then with views of the Willamette Valley...brilliant Fall colors...red, orange, yellow...we cruised down another hill to PCC Rockcreek, took in some Oregonian views and hopped over to Nike...Our bodies were showing fatigue at that point, but we pushed on...mainly because we had to and we weren't about to let the hills or Portland win! We rounded out our ride with a slice of pizza and soda from a favorite local pizza establishment called Pizzacato. (pictured here: Top - at PCC Rock Creek / Bottom - at Nike in front of Ronaldo Field).
